Dr. Gregory W. Balturshot is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in cranial, spine and peripheral nerve procedures. He has extensive intracranial experience in neurovascular surgery, neuro-oncology, Chiari malformations, normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) and neuro trauma. Dr. Balturshot treats all spinal conditions using both minimally invasive and open complex surgery, including scoliosis reconstruction, microdiscectomy, laminectomy and fusions from anterior, lateral and posterior approaches. He also treats carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy, tumors and other peripheral nerve conditions.
Dr. Balturshot attended University of Alabama, graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry where he was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society. His medical training was completed at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. During his time in medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Balturshot’s neurosurgical internship was completed at The Ohio State University, Department of Surgery. This was followed by his residency in the Division of Neurosurgery at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Balturshot believes it is imperative to treat patients as though they are family and provide cutting edge neurosurgical care to make an impact on people’s lives. He strongly believes in listening to his patients and correlating the history and neurologic exam to deliver the best surgical or nonsurgical care possible.
When he is not seeing patients, he enjoys playing basketball and walking his two dogs with his wife, Rita.
