A Scholarship Program for Nursing Excellence

The Vornbrocks are deeply committed to OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital. In addition to Page’s service on the hospital’s development board, the Vornbrock family has been a tremendous source of support for nursing education.

“It is often the personal engagement with the nursing staff that creates the most lasting memories,” says Page.

“If we want ‘the best’ nurses, we must provide them with opportunities to develop their professional skill sets. A scholarship for their continuing education is one thing we can offer that might differentiate our hospital from the rest.”

In 2011, Page and Cheryl established the Vornbrock Spirit of Nursing Compassion Scholarship Award, given to an RN who displays the characteristics of being honorable, respected and compassionate. The Vornbrocks also established the Sherrie L. Valentine Labor and Delivery Compassion Scholarship Award, a nursing education scholarship created in honor of Sherrie Valentine—a devoted leader who has made a difference in the lives of others throughout her years as a nurse.

Their most recent gift to establish the Vornbrock Family Endowment Fund for Nursing Education continues their philanthropic support of nursing education and excellence in perpetuity.

The Vornbrocks hope their gift to Nursing Excellence Program encourages other individuals and small businesses to sponsor nursing scholarships. “If we can achieve that goal, then with each new scholarship donor we will have a new ambassador for our hospital and a supporter of our nursing program,” notes Cheryl.

The ultimate goal is to be able to offer scholarships to 20 percent of the nursing staff each year.
