    Dr. Amin spent her childhood in Pittsburgh. Her favorite part about Family Medicine is the continuity of care and diverse opportunities that the specialty provides. Her interests include population health, diversity and inclusion, adolescent medicine, reproductive justice, advocacy, and urban care. She is involved at the state and national level with the OAFP and RHAP. Outside of work, she also enjoys exploring Columbus, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and reading.

    Dr. Blackburn has been a faculty member since she graduated from the program in 1990 and serves as a part-time faculty member while running a busy private practice, which she still loves! She has interests in reproductive health, OB, pediatrics, and LGBTQ care. She also enjoys playing the piano, watching sports, biking and staying in pretty good shape and hanging out with her partner and their dogs, Mushu and Hazel.

    Dr. Detty joined the faculty in 2024. He trained at Grant and chose to continue working with a team that is passionate about finding creative solutions to take the best possible care of our patients-with curiosity, creativity, and grit. His professional and educational areas of interest include clinical reasoning, health policy, and the integration of physical and behavioral health services. Outside of work, he enjoys endurance sports, live music, and spending time with his partner and children.

    Dr. Gulley joined the faculty after graduating from residency in 2015. He hails from Wheelersburg, OH, a small town on the Ohio River. Outside of medicine, he hasn’t yet left his small town roots behind. He enjoys fishing, vegetable gardening, dirt track racing, rock-climbing, and some hunting. He is most appreciative of the preparedness he felt when he graduated- that Grant residents are ready to work in nearly every clinical setting after their time here.

    Dr. Herzog has been at Grant since graduating residency and continues to love the people she works with. She became program director in 2013. She loves curriculum and thinking through how best to teach our most important specialty. She has a special interest in pediatrics and adolescents. Outside of medicine, she loves being a mother; finding time to read; quotes, Pinterest and Ted Talks; eating good food; and local restaurants, breweries and markets.

    Dr. Holt has been at Grant since 1999 when she came here as an intern. She loves practicing full spectrum medicine and is very passionate about breastfeeding and resident teaching. When she isn't busy with work, she loves to travel with her husband and three daughters. Her favorite thing about Grant is her partners, she says these are the best people to work with EVER! They are smart, dedicated, funny and always have my back.

    Dr. Johansen joined Grant in 2016 and lives with his lovely wife and two children in Worthington. His research has been published in a variety of journals including NEJM, JAMA, and the Annals of Family Medicine. He also worked on the G-VIII evaluation of Medicaid expansion in Ohio and currently serves as an associate editor for the Annals of Family Medicine. His hobbies include cooking, hiking, visiting national parks, and health services research.

    Dr. Johnson has been on faculty since 2008. His interests include geriatrics (he has privileges at one of the local nursing homes where residents see patients), end of life care, and outpatient family medicine. Outside activities include all things soccer and staying fit.

    Dr. Kesssler joined Grant in 2022 after being an Assistant Professor at Cascades East Family Medicine Residency in Oregon. In 2019 she founded Canvasback books, an independent community- centered bookstore in downtown Klammoth Falls. Her medical interests include Palliative care, reproductive health, ultrasound, care of children, and community-centered medicine.

    Dr. Lowther was born at Grant and grew up in Columbus. After completing her training and having their first baby, she and her husband moved back to Columbus, and Dr. Lowther joined a local Federally-Qualified Health Center. In 2016, she began working as a community preceptor periodically at Grant, and loved it so much that she joined as faculty in 2019. Her interests include reproductive health, care of the under- and uninsured, and adolescent health.

    Dr. Niedermier grew up on a cattle farm in rural Northern Ohio. After residency, interest in teaching, as well as patient care, led her to Pittsburgh where she completed a Faculty Development Fellowship before joining the faculty at Grant in the summer of 2017. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, being active outdoors with running, hiking or playing tennis, and reading in her spare time.

    Dr. Reynolds Torma has been part of the Grant family since 2001. She enjoys teaching, reproductive health, outpatient procedures, home visits and the variety of Family Medicine. She teaches part time at OUHCOM Dublin campus where she co leads the SaaCoFP family medicine group and is involved in community outreach. Dr. Reynolds Torma lives in the Hilliard area with her husband, daughter, and many pets. She enjoys playing volleyball, photography, and watching her daughter play basketball.

    Dr. Sams practiced full spectrum Family Medicine (including OB and doing vasectomies) in private practice for 13 years prior to returning to Grant as faculty. She is actively involved with the OAFP and AAFP, including being a past OAFP president and current delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates. She is involved in her local and national church and also enjoys quilting and spending time with her family.

    Dr. Travis has been with Grant since March 2012 and has 20+ years teaching experience in Family Medicine. His interests in Family Medicine are the psychosocial aspects of medicine, collaborative care, resident development, enhancing relationships through communication and empathy, and physician wellness. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling to watch his son’s band perform, water sports, running, and weight lifting.

    Dr. Yun Joined the team in 2022. He was previously practicing in Maine before moving to Columbus. Dr. Yun has a Masters of Public Health and his Post-Baccalaureate Health Professions Certificate! Some of his medical interests include hypertension, diagnostic testing, critical appraisal, systematic review, and advocating for primary care through health system design.
