Who We Treat
Folks at all levels of activity can benefit from the Tendon Clinic – from the professional athlete to the weekend warrior. Whether you are experiencing pain in your joints from a tendon injury or are looking to prevent a tendon injury, we can help.
When to Come In
Many athletes suffer from tendon problems mid-season in their sport. You may be tempted to wait until the end of the season, but waiting may not be best solution. The earlier an athlete receives treatment for a tendon injury, the better.
Tendon Conditions Treated at the Clinic
We treat all tendon conditions. Some of the most common include:
- Ankle/Foot – Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis
- Knee – Patellar tendonitis, hamstring tendonitis
- Elbow – Lateral and medial epicondylitis
- Shoulder – Rotator cuff tendonitis, shoulder impingements
- Sports-related injuries
Tendon Procedures We Offer
We offer many non-surgical solutions for tendon injuries, including:
- Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
-
PRP is blood plasma that contains concentrated platelets. Platelets have growth factors that initiate and speed up tissue repair and regeneration.
When we inject PRP into the damaged tendon, it causes mild inflammation that triggers a healing cascade. Patients see improvements in symptoms and function that may eliminate the need for long-term medication or surgery.
And, we use your own blood to collect the platelets, so the procedure is extremely safe.
- Tenex Procedure
-
The Tenex Procedure is a minimally invasive ultrasound-guided tenotomy. It uses ultrasonic energy to remove diseased tissue and promote the healing of your tendon. It is a great alternative to traditional surgery for patients with extensive or chronic tendon problems.
Using ultrasound guidance, your doctor identifies the specific location of your tendon pain and then numbs the area with local anesthetic.
Your doctor then uses a special tool called the TX MicroTip to break down and removed damaged tissue.
The procedure takes less than 20 minutes to complete. It requires only a tiny incision, and no stitches are needed.
- Prolotherapy
-
Prolotherapy is also called regenerative injection therapy. It works by stimulating the body’s own natural healing mechanism to repair injured tissue. Your doctor injects an irritant solution into your painful ligament or tendon to promote the growth of new tissue.
