Your healthcare team
At Dublin Methodist, your doctor works with a team of highly skilled and specialized healthcare providers. Each member of your team will introduce themselves, have their ID badge displayed at all times and are open to any questions you may have about their role. Below is a brief description of the typical members involved in your care and an explanation of their identifying uniforms.
Your Doctors
The following explanations are for the doctors that may be involved in your care while you are in the hospital.
- Attending Doctor - This is the doctor who is responsible for coordinating your care while you are in the hospital
- Hospitalist - This doctor specializes in the care of people in the hospital. They can take the place of your family doctor while you are in the hospital. They will coordinate your care, communicate with you, your healthcare team, your family doctor and your family
- Consulting Doctors - Your Attending doctor or Hospitalist may consult other doctors such as surgeons, specialists or your family doctor regarding critical decisions in your medical care
- In-House Obstetrical Officers - This doctor specializes in the care of obstetrical patients. They can take the place of an attending doctor for patients who do not have an obstetrician or they can be available for an emergency until your obstetrician arrives at the hospital
Your Medical Team
Because there are many members on your medical team, the staff at Dublin Methodist, wear color-coded uniforms to help you identify their role in your care. If you are unsure of a staff member's role in your care, please do not hesitate to ask.
- Navy Blue Uniforms Registered Nurses (RN) will assist you with care, administer your medications, assess your condition regularly and are available to answer questions and provide comfort
- Light Blue Uniforms Nursing Assistants help the nurses in your care. They may obtain your vital signs, help you to the bathroom and with hygiene and get you the things you need
- Dark Green Uniforms Respiratory Therapists assist you with breathing and breathing devices
- Tan Uniforms Imaging Technologists assist with x-rays and other radiology or cardiology tests
- Black Uniforms Laboratory staff may draw your blood
- Teal Uniforms Pharmacy Technicians deliver medications from the pharmacy
- Burgundy Uniforms Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists help with your rehabilitation
- Green Uniforms Surgery and Labor and Delivery Staff assist in the operating room and during the delivery of your baby
- White Lab Coats Pharmacists, Physicians and Leadership wear white lab coats
Spiritual care
Chaplains from a variety of faiths are available to give you spiritual and emotional support. Chaplains can provide comfort to you and your family as you:
- Discuss medical decisions
- Provide counsel on patient's rights
- Help you resolve questions of medical ethics
If you wish, we can notify your minister, priest or rabbi that you are at Dublin Methodist. Just ask your nurse if you want to have one of our chaplains visit you.
Our chapel is located on the first floor and offers a quiet place for prayer, reflection or meditation. A meditation room is located on the second floor and also available to you and your family or friends.
Healing Gardens/Gathering Places
Rather than remaining in your hospital room, you are encouraged to move around the hospital to enjoy spaces that were created to help you heal. The beauty and comfort of nature can be found in the thirteen gardens located throughout the building. You will also find quiet, small spaces with tables, chairs and comfortable seating throughout the hospital where you can relax or work if need be.
Internet access
Dublin Methodist has wireless internet access everywhere. Patients and families are free to use laptops and power outlets in patient rooms, waiting areas, lounges and dining areas.
Patient rooms have secure wireless and wired internet access. Firewalls exist to insure organizational and patient information is protected. You will be asked to sign our internet agreement before being connected to our network. If you are unable to log on the network, call 566-5804.
Paperless communication
Our computer-based communication system is state-of-the-art and very different from any other hospital. Dublin Methodist is paperless to a great degree. Our communication system is computer-based. You will see nurses and staff with laptop computers rather than paper files. This allows yourentire healthcare team to communicate quickly and easily regarding your care.
Patient/family education
We want you to be a part of your care. Our healthcare team will keep you informed about the outcomes of your care, treatment options and home care. There are many educational materials (videos, written handouts, etc.) available to help you understand your disease/condition, tests, care, treatment or medicine.

Customer service and associate recognition
Our staff is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality healthcare. To recognize an associate or physician for excellent customer service, please feel free to complete a Power of One recognition form. These forms are in the hospital.
Special communication needs
We are pleased to provide interpreters for language and the hearing impaired. TTY equipment and closed-caption television also are available. To arrange for an interpreter, ask your nurse. If you would like to speak directly to the Office of Interpretive Services, please call (614) 566-3256.
Valuables
We encourage you to leave valuables (jewelry, money, credit cards, checkbooks or anything else of value) at home or with a family member. Valuables can be locked up in Security on the 1st floor or call (614) 544-8800.
