The OhioHealth Research Institute fosters the delivery of better medical treatments, the application of more effective technology and the enhancement of our patients’ personal experiences through clinical trials, innovations, scholarly activity, medical education and other programs.

The OhioHealth Research Institute redefines clinical research in a community health system. Our team includes:
- The Office of Human Subjects Protection (OHSP) serves as OhioHealth’s IRB office who provides guidance, develops educational materials, maintains regulatory oversight, and provides advice on ethical and regulatory issues in biomedical and behavioral research.
- Clinical trials operations with dedicated research coordinators and research assistants to support clinical trials.
- Regulatory operations with coordinators who provide guidance and maintains training materials that ensures compliance with complex research studies and clinical trials involving human subjects research.
- Quality Assurance (QA) team that provides training and education to staff and conducts internal audits to ensure research studies are executed in compliance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines.
- Research Business Services (RBS) consisting of a research finance, research billing, office of sponsored programs, and research data technology professionals to support EPIC, REDCap, CTMS, eReg and other research software platforms.
- Academic Research Services (ARS) with technically-trained research scientists to provide guidance for scholarly activity, medical education and accreditation requirements with a focus on research projects and investigator-initiated trials.
- Library Services (LS) with skilled librarians who provide educational resources and manages OhioHealth’s publication repository.
